Schumann: Kreisleriana, Op.16

What are some good Schumann pieces? I’m looking for good Schumann pieces, preferebly piano (but it doesn’t have to be piano). I have only played Kinderszenen, Abegg and Carnaval so far, and listened to some other pieces on youtube, but I don’t like any of them.Did he compose any good ones?

If you like this piece you can download Schumann: Kreisleriana, Op.16 sheet music online in digital format.

Those are his pieces: 1 Geburtstagmarsch 2 Barentanz 3 Gartenmelodie 4 Beim Kranzewinden 5 Kroatenmarsch 6 Trauer 7 Turniermarsch 8 Reigen 9 Am Springbrunnen 10 Verstecken’s 11 Gespenstermarchen 12 Abendlied

One of his most celebrated pieces is Ave Maria. Written by many classical composers. His, especially sung by Maria Callas with the Schumann piano accompaniment, is said to be the most beautiful arrangement. You can listen to Ms. Callas and this arrangement on Utube. Enjoy.

You have already covered some of the major piano works, but you should also investigate these:Albumblätter Op 124Davidsbündlertänze Op 68 Fantasiestücke Op 12Faschingsschwank aus Wien Op 26Kreisleriana Op 168 Novelletten Op 21Papillons Op 2Waldszenen Op 42There are also 3 piano sonatas (plus a fourth unfinished), but these don’t seem to have captured pianists’ imaginations.

SCHUMANN composed many wonderful pieces. “Little Piece” (Album for the Young) is beautiful in its simplicity. I has a dynamic use of ascending thirds and the prolongation techniques used to embellish the melody are more complex and interesting than they appear upon a first or second listen. I think you will enjoy playing this on the piano (I play guitar.but I read both treble and bass clef so have an understanding of the piano sheet music.”Forest Scenes, No. 6″ is beautiful and is a fascinating study of emphasis being put on contrapuntal (passing) tones and chords..I might also suggest:.”Humoreske, Op. 20″”‘Melody (Album for the Young)””Novelette, Op. 21, No. 2″”Romance, Op. 28, No. 1″.I have recommended pieces that would be enjoyable to play on the piano, based on their playful melodies..You can sample these pieces on iTunes. Enjoy!
