“Kiss Me”Written by Matt SlocumPerformed by Sixpence None The RicherI believe that is the answer

Hi, christian people! Why is the song “Kiss me” (by sixpence none the richer) is gospel? Could you. explain the meaning of this song?
Well seeing how their name is based on a lame C. S. Lewis quote, one can assume their music has religious overtones.

that particular song and the album it is from is more mainstream but if you listen to the songs off their first album (“This Beautiful Mess” – 1995) you’ll know why they’re Christian Gospel.

Kiss Me is not a gospel song. It’s a song about romantic love that’s written & performed by Christians ‘in a band’ that’s known for singing both pop & Christian music. Both founders of SPNtR (Matt Slocum, & Leigh Bingham Nash), are Christians, but both went on record as preferring not to be identified as a Christian band. Apparently their reasons were to avoid limiting their public exposure, which often happens when a group accepts a Christian lable. They also purposed from the band’s very beginning to write & sing songs about whatever tickled their fancy. That is, they wanted to avoid being ‘typecast’ into a particular category. Unquestionably however, their Christianity has influenced the content of their music. And all of their albums & their EP are examples of this.they represent a blend of varying style & lyrical content. BTW, SPNtR has recently reformed (after the band’s ’04 breakup). As of early ’08, SPNtR is now on tour again, and their next performance will be on April 27, at the FISH-FEST Christian concert in Irvine, CA. They’ve released a sneak peek of a brand new catchy tune destined for their upcoming EP, entitled “My Dear Machine”. You can listen to this very recent work on You Tube.

Who originally sang “kiss me”? I know sixpence none the richer made it popular but is there an original singer? Or did they make it.
Matt Slocum, guitarist for ‘Sixpence None the Richer’, wrote the song in 1997.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiss_MeThere have been a variety of cover versions –en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiss_Me#Covers

What kind of guitar amp(s) did Matt Slocum use while in Sixpence None the Richer?
I am almost POSITIVE that matt played a Vox AC30. That chimey tone on songs like “Kiss me” and “There She Goes” is such a marker for the AC30. Plus, he plays an electric 12-string, and it is considered a major no-no to play an electric 12 on anything BUT an AC30. To do some side by side tone comparisons.check out these songs, where I KNOW the guitar players played through an AC30.hopefully you’ll see what I mean when I say the AC30 has its own tone signature.Turn, Turn, Turn – The ByrdsThe Waiting – Tom Petty and The HeartbreakersAmerican Girl – Tom Petty and The HeartbreakersANY TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS!No Myth – Michael Penn (the electric guitar in the chorus)Great Question, I hope I was of some help. Is it possible that Matt Slocum played through something beside an AC30? Sure, I won’t rule it out, but after listening to some classic examples of the AC30, it sure is hard to doubt that he’s a VOX AC30 player. Good Luck

whats that song that goes? i think it goes something like “down in the grass swing swing” or something, but i heard it on “not another teen movie” and loved the song so i need to find the name! its a gorgeous song!

is the singer from sixpence none the richer a lesbian? well I was looking at the lyrics and I noticed these lyrics:Kiss me down by the broken tree houseSwing me upon its hanging tireBring, bring, bring your flowered hatWe’ll take the trail marked on your father’s mapI don’t know any boys that wear flowered hats. I like her voice and lyrics but I was just wondering cause I never thought of it till now.or is this even a love song? at first i thought it was a love song but now i’m not even sure..
No she is not. They are a christian band. Why would I get a thumbs down for this? She IS NOT a lesbian. There give me another one if you don’t agree with me!

no. Leigh Nash is not gay. she is a straight chick from New Braunfels, Texas. i can see how the lyrics might confuse you, but all the lyrics from that album are a little wacky, and this song was actually written by Matt Slocum, the guitarist.

It was a band whose lead singer was Leigh Nash (who is very well-known on the Christian music circuit). She was born in Texas. The name is Sixpence None the Richer, which was taken from the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis (writer of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe). Another popular song by them was “There She Goes”. They are no longer together as a band. For more info and a picture of Leigh, check the links below.
