What are some good, fairly advanced, novelty piano solos? Like Music Box Dancer by Mills, The Entertainer by Joplin, Kitten on the Keys by Confrey, Funeral March of the Marrionettes, etc. Stuff that is fun but that hardly anyone plays.

If you can find them, I’d recommend pieces by Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy). I doubt you’ll be able to find them, but he writes beautiful music.

I like Beethoven’s moonlight sonata in C# minor-especially the third movemnet. It needs very fast fingers at times though.

“Rialto Ripples” is a rag by Gershwin that some folks will remember as the theme to the “Ernie Kovacs Show”. It is fairly advanced. Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumble Bee”, especially in Rachmaninnof’s arrangement, is well worth the work you put into it. There is also a boogie woogie version of this somewhere that is a lot of fun.
